|More About Our Family
Fun Things About Us
1: We make our own hummus and crackers. We love to tweak recipes because we can never find all the fancy ingredients in the store.
2: Mary is the financial and tech guru. Gil likes to plan and build things. But he likes Mary to read the instructions.
3: We love the great outdoors. We visit national parks, kayak, and once went ice fishing (we sat for hours in the cold only to fish out a shoe).
4: Gil used to be afraid of heights. We once rode in an air balloon. Gil camped on the floor of the basket while Mary and our friend’s daughter enjoyed the sightseeing from above.
5: We’re super laid back. Life is precious, why not to grab the opportunity to be happy and explore the universe—which is why we so want to adopt: so we can share the good life with a child.
6: We leave 6 blank…so your child can come up with this one as he or she joins us in celebrating life.
We live in the state of…
Wisconsin—home of the Green Bay Packers, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Laura Ingalls Wilder! Wisconsin is known for its cheese, cranberries, and apple orchards (but most people don’t know that ice cream sundaes were invented here!) Our diverse and family-friendly neighborhood is walking distance to school, a library, and 3 parks. Every day, we go for a walk, and we always see kids playing outside and families walking their dogs. Gil has lived in the area since he was a teen, and he knows the local landmarks just as well as he knows the neighbors. It’s a quiet and safe community where people look out for each other. We’re a short drive away from gorgeous parks and lakes, culture and arts, child-friendly events, and—most importantly—outstanding healthcare and schools. With its Midwest hospitality and its scenic drives to watch the changing of the leaves, we are proud to call Wisconsin home!
Holidays, Faith, and Traditions
We cherish the holiday spirit, whether with friends and family or just us. Maybe it’s cheesy, but we believe in the miracle of Christmas, and we hope to create new holiday traditions with your child. In the summer we like to spend time at the lake or travel to new places and learn about different cultures. In the winter, we play in the snow, drink hot cocoa by the fire, play board games and share silly ghost stories. We’d like to invite a new tradition into our life: every night as your child goes to bed, we’ll share what we’re thankful for, beginning with you for giving birth to this bundle of joy and giving us the opportunity to experience the miracle of adoption.
Education and Career
We are fortunate to have stable, successful careers with employers that are very supportive of working parents. As a social worker, Gil helps people in crisis sort out their setbacks. He is responsible and a great provider who works hard to help others in the community and always puts our family first. Mary blends her love of science and the arts as a grant writer and budget analyst. She finds her work very rewarding because of the impact it has on the health of so many children and families. At lunchtime, Gil stops at home for a dose of home cooking. Mary works from home—which is a huge plus!—it allows flexibility for childcare and family time, plus time to whip up homemade bread and muffins in our old oven.

We are open to letters, photos, and visits. We promise to speak of you with love and gratitude and to honor your level of comfort if you choose to keep in touch.
Once again, we want to say thank you for thinking about us as potential parents for your child. We know it’s not easy, and we know that the road to happiness can be paved with setbacks as well as triumphs. We hope to welcome your child into our life. We want to do more than promise to give your child every opportunity to succeed—we want to make it a daily reality! And yes, of course, we’ll ensure that your child will always know that someone intelligent and kind as in you started his or her story. We would love to learn about your hopes and dreams for you and your child.
