|More About Our Family
MIA AS A BIG SISTER
Mia loves to talk about having a baby brother or sister and is eager to teach her sibling how to be kind to others, how to share toys, cook and – her favorite – how to jump in mud puddles so you make a big splash. She is ready to show her sibling around the farm and her favorite places to play.
FAMILY TIME, FUN TIME
We live in a beautiful part of Tennessee that is full of fun family opportunities. We love to take our time and enjoy all the family events our area has to offer – especially the local zoo! We love to visit the zoo where we saw lions and tigers up close and were fascinated by the monkeys swinging overhead. We like animals of all kinds, and so we also enjoy seeing the sharks, octopus, and alligators at the aquarium. Taking time to focus on our family is important to us. We look forward to returning to the zoo and aquarium as a family of four soon.
MORE ABOUT OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Vanessa grew up with her brother and two sisters. Although we live far apart, we remain very close. We stay connected through FaceTime, cards, and visits. Her family is so excited to welcome another child into the fold and already have begun making plans for visits.
We live close to Jerry’s childhood friends, whom we consider family. They have several children with whom Mia loves to play. They are a fun, energetic, adventurous family who likes to spend time outdoors, to camp and to build things. We spend most holidays with them as well as attend church with them. With Jerry’s parents’ passing, his friends’ parents are parental figures for him and consider Mia their grandchild.
OUR YOUTH GROUP
As the youth leaders, we try to make memorable moments with the Youth whether it’s at our weekly lessons on Wednesday or during our annual mission trip. We’ve built new floors, laid hardwood and tile, painted walls and so much more. Most of all, each trip gives our Youth a chance to learn about other cultures and become closer to one another.
Our small town is quite active with July 4 festivities, Halloween trick-or-treating downtown, and an annual Christmas parade. Kids love to go because they walk away with a sack full of candy! Our churches work on Vacation Bible School experiences throughout the summer. It’s common to see youth groups, cheer teams, and sports teams hosting car washes at local businesses. Our area has many good schools, including several college options. We enjoy living in a small town while taking advantage of the opportunities of two larger cities nearby. We believe this is a perfect place for our family, and we look forward to sharing our community with another child.
