A Letter from Jerry & Vanessa
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We’re a happy, fun, Christian family of three and are excited to become a family of four or more. We love the outdoors, playing together, and helping others. Married for nearly 15 years, we live on our beautiful family farm in Tennessee. We can hardly wait to expand our family.
Family and farming fuel our daily lives. We love being together on the farm to raise cows, grow hay, and enjoy nature. When we experienced infertility, we felt led to adoption to expand our family. We were blessed in 2017 to adopt our wonderful daughter, Mia. She is very sweet, a little sassy and an absolute joy! Being parents is truly a greater gift than we ever dreamed. We send regular email updates that include photos to her birth mom. We save her birth mom’s responses so we can share them with Mia as she grows up.
We often can be found playing outside, hosting a cookout for the church Youth group, and going for hayrides with family and friends. We look forward to growing as a family and sharing our love for agriculture with our children.
Jerry makes everyone feel like an old friend. He has a big heart, a witty sense of humor, and a distinctive, infectious laugh. Jerry is a fantastic cook and likes to grill steaks, hamburgers, and veggies. He often gets asked to make the holiday ham because it is so good!
A wonderful dad to Mia, Jerry is eager to teach her and our next child about the farm, how to throw a ball around, and play with our dog. He is so excited to take our kids on tractor rides, make them laugh and have fun playing games.
Vanessa likes to sing along to songs with Mia, plan adventures for the Youth group and take advantage of our town’s fun activities, like food trucks at the park. Vanessa’s career combines her passion for public relations and agriculture. She likes to visit with farmers, learn about their crops and livestock and write about their farms.
Not one to pass on a good photo opportunity, Vanessa keeps a journal for Mia and has started one for our next child to show how excited we are to have him or her join our family. She looks forward to reading to our children, teaching them how to cook and bake, and going as a family to our area’s fun activities.
We adopted our wonderful daughter, Mia, in 2017, and she loves to be on the move! She wants to ride horses, to be outside playing with our dog, and to be on her bike. She likes to check on the cows, stomp in mud puddles and dress up like a princess. She loves to play with other kids and always takes time to help the younger ones. She will make an amazing big sister.
Our family and friends are so excited for us to welcome another child into the family. They are all excited to shower him or her with love. Though Jerry’s parents have passed away, we live close to his sister and to childhood friends who are like family! From holidays to weekend get-togethers, we love being with them and their kids. Vanessa’s family lives in Missouri, and we talk to her parents weekly and visit regularly.
Our home is part of our family history: Jerry’s grandparents built it in 1938 and we love it. It’s a modest, three-bedroom house with an inviting front porch and large yard. With wide-open spaces on the farm, we have a lot of room to play and explore. We are working on the nursery room and look forward to decorating it! When inside, we spend our time in the family room where we play games, watch movies, and tell each other stories.
We are so excited and ready to welcome your child into our home and give him or her all the love that we can. We promise to laugh often and love always. We’ll provide them with the best education possible while teaching them to follow their dreams, to show compassion for others, and to have fun. We are happy to share letters and photos and welcome annual visits . We look forward to learning more about you.

More About Our Family
Mia, big sister to be
Mia is eager to be a big sister and wants to teach her sibling how to be kind to others, how to share toys, cook, and – her favorite – how to ride horses. She is ready to show her sibling around the farm and her favorite places to play.
Family time, Fun time
We live in a beautiful part of Tennessee that is full of fun family opportunities. We enjoy family time together at the events our area has to offer – especially the local zoo! We love to see the lions and tigers up close and are fascinated by the monkeys swinging overhead. We like animals of all kinds, and so we also enjoy seeing the sharks, octopus, and alligators at the aquarium. Taking time to focus on our family is important to us. We look forward to returning to the zoo and aquarium as a larger family soon.
More about our family and friends
Vanessa grew up with her brother and two sisters. Although we live far apart, we remain very close. We stay connected through FaceTime, cards, and visits. Her family is so excited to welcome another child into the fold and already have begun making plans for visits.
We live close to Jerry’s childhood friends, whom we consider family. They have several children with whom Mia loves to play. They are a fun, energetic, adventurous family who likes to spend time outdoors, to camp and to build things. We spend most holidays with them as well as attend church with them.
Our youth group
As the youth leaders, we try to make memorable moments with the Youth whether it’s at our weekly Wednesday lessons, camping at the farm or during our annual mission trip. We’ve built new floors, laid hardwood and tile, painted walls and so much more. Most of all, each trip gives our Youth a chance to learn about other cultures and become closer to one another.
